Political science students of West Visayas State University (WVSU) got first place in the 2016 Kabataan Fair – Project Proposal Competition during the the 5th I Transform! Young Leaders Convention in Baguio City on September 23-26.

I Transform! is a youth-oriented campaign developed by YouthLEAD Philippines to advocate action among the Filipino youth on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UNMDGs) at the community level using the vehicle of transformational leadership.
This year’s theme is: “SDGS: A Transformative Journey Towards A Better Nation, A Better World by 2030”.
WVSU Political Science team composed of Shaira Joy Pirote Fungot, Jeff Nuñez, Camille Hope Doromal, Clea Rose Damasco, and Zen Rollo, with Professor Reymund Flores as adviser, proposed the winning project themed “Modeling Barangay Governance for Inclusive, Livable, and Sustainable Communities.”

The main objective of project, according to Nuñez, is to make Barangay Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City a model of an inclusive, livable, and sustainable community by integrating the “Ati” settlement in barangay governance.
This year’s I Transform! convention is held at Teachers Camp, Baguio City with the a total of 749 delegates from all over the country.
