On its first week of implementation, Iloilo City Compliance Monitoring Team (CMT) issued citation tickets to 85 violators caught for non-wearing of face mask in public and non-observance of physical distancing during the period of June 30-July 6.
The team is doing rounds to check if physical distancing and proper wearing of face masks are being practiced in public places to prevent the spread of CoronaVirus Disease (COVID-19).
Some 200 compliance officers are strictly enforcing Regulation Ordinance 2020-061 Wearing of Face Mask in Public and Regulation Ordinance 2020-066 Implementing Physical Distancing.
Both ordinances impose P500 penalty for violators, while the latter also imposes P5,000 fine for public establishments for not ensuring physical distancing of one meter space between persons in their premises.
Three establishments including billiard hall and internet cafes were issued citation tickets.
Aside from not wearing a face mask, three were also fined for smoking in public.
Violations were recorded in transport terminals, markets and ports.
Four settled their penalties.
Task Force on Moral and Values Formation (TFMVF) head Nestor Canong appeals to the public to be responsible and disciplined. He urges people in the city to wear face mask and observe physical distancing at all times.
CMT is composed of personnel from TFMVF, Barangay Affairs Office, City Sports Development Office, Business Permit and Licensing Office, Task Force Badjao, Task Force on Anti-Squatting and Illegal Structures, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Green Guards.
