There will be no classes in all levels, public and private schools in Iloilo City on Monday, September 30.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas announced the suspension of classes due to nationwide transport strike on the said date.
In the Executive Order No. 89 series of 2019, Treñas cited that major transport groups in the country have confirmed their support for transport strike on Monday.
“The transport strike will paralyze and cause inconvenience on the part of commuters especially students, school faculty and staff including parents and guardians,” said Treñas.
By suspending the classes, the Mayor explained that it will “minimize the inconvenience to the riding public especially the students.”

Major transport groups in the country have called for a nationwide strike to show their disagreement to the immediate phaseout of jeepneys and UV express cars by July 2020.
Various transport groups in the city and province of Iloilo under the Alyansa Kontra PUV Phase Out-Panay will join the strike. Around 95 percent of transport sectors – PUJ, tricycle, taxis, and vans – are expected to support the cause.
