Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has canceled afternoon classes in public and private schools, all levels in Iloilo City August 6, 2019.
Treñas made the announcement after receiving a recommendation from Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) after heavy rains and strong winds continue to hit the metropolis.
He posted online through his official Facebook page:
Classes were suspended in all levels, both private and public, due to heavy rainfall.

Based on the latest Thunderstorm Advisory No. 8 of Pag-asa, moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds due to thunderstorms are affecting over Iloilo (Zarraga, Dumangas) and nearby areas which may persist within 1 to 2 hours.
All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides.
