Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas has placed four more barangays in lockdown starting tomorrow, August 6 due to increased Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in their areas.
In a message sent to the media, Treñas said that he is ordering the lockdown of Rizal Pala-Pala 1 and 2, Tanza Baybay in City Proper area and North Baluarte in Molo District. The lockdown will start 6AM on Thursday.
Treñas also revealed that Calumpang in Molo and Simon Ledesma in Jaro have two cases each. If the infection spreads in these barangays, he will also lockdown the area.
The lockdown in Fishing Port will also be extended for another three days after 26 new cases were reported. Iloilo Terminal Market or ‘Super’ will be closed for sanitation purposes starting tonight at 12 am for 72 hours.
Based on record, the new COVID-19 cases in the city are as follows: Fishing port – 26, North Baluarte – 5, Pala-pala 1 – 10, Tanza Baybay – 4, Calumpang – 2, Cuartero – 1, Simon Ledesma – 2, Tanza Bonifacio – 1-, Pala-pala 1 – 4.
The city executive also announced that there are two more positive cases from IQor call center, bringing the total to five. Other agents from the BPO company will only be allowed to go back to work if they have negative RT-PCR tests, said Treñas.
Treñas is also under quarantine for 14 days after he was exposed to a COVID-19 positive person who visited his office on Tuesday. The individual is tagged as one Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR) from Ayala company who donated PPEs to the City Government.
“We cannot avoid the spike of the cases since there have been local transmissions already. I am requesting everyone to take extra care.
Despite the fact that I am at home for quarantine, I will continue to serve my people. Indi ko kamo pagpabay-an, padayon ang aton pagbato sa sini nga pandemya,” Treñas said.
