All persons going out in public places in Iloilo City must wear face masks, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas ordered on Wednesday, April 1.
Treñas issued Memorandum Order No. 105 series of 2020 mandating the use of face asks in all public places during the period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Iloilo City. This is part of the city’s response mechanism to prevent the spread and/or local transmission of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Tanan nga tawo diri as siudad during the duration of this calamity, kinanglan may mask sila…Tapos i-require ta ang tanan nga supermarkets, markets, kag stores nga indi mag-serve sa mga tawo nga waay masks, any kind of masks,” Treñas said in a press conference.
In the executive order, the city mayor cited Republic Act No. 11332 which “mandates the adoption and establishment of response measures and activities to prevent the spread of infection or epidemics and prevent re-occurrence.”
The wearing of face masks complements the city’s other response mechanisms such as enhanced community quarantine, social distancing, and proper hygiene.
All barangay captains of Iloilo City are directed to implement immediately the order within their respective territorial jurisdiction until April 14.
Persons not wearing a face mask in shall be sent home to get a face mask. They may also be subject to sanctions such as a reprimand or filing of appropriate charges. (Photos by Cmo SocialMedia in Facebook)
