Mayor Jerry Treñas announced that there will be no classes from pre-school to senior high school both public and private in Iloilo City on Thursday, August 8.
He made the declaration due to expected heavy rainfall and strong winds, based on the recommendation of City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).

“As Mayor of Iloilo City, I declare the suspension of classes from pre-school to senior high school both in private and public in the City of Iloilo on August 8. 2019.
After checking all the available data (PAGASA, windy & YR), forecast tomorrow shows we will be experiencing light to moderate at times heavy rainfall together with strong winds reaching up to 30KPH with wind gustiness reaching up to 70KPH. The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) recommended the suspension of classes.
We leave it to the discretion of the school administrators to cancel/suspend classes at the tertiary level.
The City DRRM Office continues to monitor weather updates through DOST PAGASA and other related warning agencies on the weather conditions. Also, members of our Response Clusters are on stand by for any emergencies.
