SM City Iloilo employees are encouraged to have balanced work and life activities.
But interestingly, they are more than willing to take part in community projects outside of their work areas.
Employee volunteers from the different departments of the mall take the extra mile to visit underprivileged communities who are in need of various assistance.
These moments where employees go out of their way to join the community visits, are special opportunities to bring joy to children like giving them reading materials, providing them brand new shoes for school, or extending assistance in painting school buildings and cleaning the school premises during Brigada sa Eskwela.
The employees also show care for senior citizens when they visit the Felicidad Sy Wellness Center for the Elderly in Molo, taking time to wake up early in the morning to bring games, songs and good clean fun with the senior citizens of the Federation of Senior Citizens Affairs of the Philippines (FSCAP) of Iloilo City. They even go as far as having the steel fence of the center installed, to ensure the safety of the senior citizens.
The employees also join tree planting activities as their share in environmental protection. They brave difficult terrains and the scourging heat of the sun going to the planting site, bearing in mind that they bring a big impact in the environment.
Working with a happy heart, these voluntary acts of kindness from the employees are on top of SM’s programs that collaborates with communities and organizations that promote positive change and focus on people and the community, environmental sustainability, disaster resilience and green campaigns.
