SM City Iloilo plants trees in support of the government’s greening program and ensures that they grow successfully. The mall executives recently checked on the thousands of fruit-bearing trees they had planted in Anilao, Iloilo.
Assistant Mall Manager Darrel John Defensor, PR Manager Troy Camarista, and Building Admin Officer Louie Raner went to Brgy. Cag-an in Anilao before 2020 ended to monitor the growth of 12,000 trees they planted in the area back in 2018.
The activity was part of SM’s Grow A Million Trees project in support of the National Greening Program of the national government.
The 24-hectare land area planted with 12,000 fruit-bearing trees is under the care of the Cag-an Upland and Lowland Development Association, a people’s organization under the supervision of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6.
SM City Iloilo representatives were assisted by CENRO representatives May Leysa and Shyne Espinal together with CULDA people’s organization in charge of maintaining the area. The visit is one of the series of monitoring done by the mall to ensure the proper growth of the trees.
