SM City Iloilo took in its new batch of senior citizens under its Senior Citizen Community Service Program.
Every weekend, these elderly staff work for 4 hours in 2 days and are given compensation in accordance with the Regional Wage Order plus 15% premium. The staff are also on duty during holidays.
Tasks assigned to the senior citizen staff are commensurate to their capabilities in the aim of empowering and extending assistance to them, as well as promoting the productive use of their skills and capabilities.
The staff are members of the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA)-Iloilo, where the mall is in close coordination in various projects that uplifts the well-being of the sector.
The new batch are Mrs. Mary Lou R. Alicaya, Mr. Arturo A. Ninto, Ms. Gloria B. Imballa, Ms. Araceli G. Tanoy and Mr. Jose M. De Los Angeles.
The program is under the SM Cares Committee on Senior Citizens Affairs in-charge of the company’s advocacy to the elderly sector, who are considered vital partners in nation building.
