SM City Iloilo emphasizes disaster preparedness, joins 3rd quarter NSED

SM Disaster Preparedness

In response to the call of the national government for private sector participation to engage in an earthquake drill, SM City Iloilo once again gathered SM employees, tenants, affiliates, & agency personnel for the conduct of the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill(NSED) on September 26, 2024.

NSED is a quarterly activity spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

SM City Iloilo supports this project to educate the public and to better equip employees when earthquake strikes, including the occurrence of destructive fires.

The PA system signaled the start of the drill at 9am where participants performed “drop, cover and hold” position under payment counters, sturdy tables/seats, in their respective areas.

Marshals led the evacuation of the premises and the assembly at the evacuation areas. SM Strata and its tenants also joined the drill.

The participation of the mall in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) is in support to the national government’s call for the private sector to be actively part in preparation for such emergency situations.

The drill is one good example of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) of SM and the BFP, and the City Disaster Risk Reduction Council(CDRRMO), which gives priority to the constant training of SM’s personnel to respond to disasters.
