Indigent senior citizens and fire victims trooped to Zamora-Melliza gym March 25 to get their financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the City Government of Iloilo, respectively.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog personally handed out the cash assistance.
There were 348 senior citizens and 31 fire victims that availed of the monetary aid.
Indigent senior citizens are entitled to P500 each month under the program of the DSWD with the strong support of the City Government.
The fire victims were from Rizal Pala-Pala I, San Antonio, Calumpang, Zamora-Milleza, San Isidro in Jaro, and Sto. Niño Sur in Arevalo district.
A total of P5,000 was given to those with totally damaged houses, while P2,500 was given to partially damaged residences
