A flag raising ceremony will be held today, September 10 at the provincial capitol wherein a Harmony of Prayer will be recited, followed by the delivery of peace message by Governor Art Defensor.
It is followed by the recitation of Pledge of Peace to be led by Sumbing, being designated as a point person for this month-long celebration.
On September 28, simultaneous peace concerts will be held in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR during the culminating activity of the peace month. In Visayas, the said concert will be at the University of the Philippines, Iloilo City campus.
Earlier, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Teresita Quintos Deles said that by virtue of Proclamation 675, September was chosen to be the peace month as many of the peace processes and negotiations occurred during the month.
This year’s theme, “Ako. Ikaw. Tayo. Magkakaiba, Nagkakaisa sa Kapayapaan,” serves as a reminder that despite of the cultural diversity due the Philippine geography, Filipinos are united by one aspiration which is to live in peace and progress, Deles added.
