Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Proceso Alcala announced on Friday the plan of putting up a processing zone inside the Iloilo Fish Port Complex (IFPC) to attract more investors in the city.
Alcala was here to lead the groundbreaking of 200-meter breakwater in the complex funded by Senator Franklin Drilon in cooperation with DA totaling to P102.38 million.
“If there is processing then it would be more inviting,” he said.
The secretary also committed another P204 million to complete the rehabilitation of the complex and subsequently advised PFDA general manager Eduardo M. Chu to work on the bidding pending its award next year.
Alcala further asked for the actual projection on the rehabilitation of Iloilo Fish Port Complex as he planned to have a detailed workshop with the PFDA and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to come up with a comprehensive plan on the flow of fishery and marine products.(Source: PNA)
