(UPDATED) Middle eastern country of Israel is looking for 1,000 Filipino hotel housekeepers, and hiring will only be through Philippine Overseas Employment Agency.
Ambassador of Israel to the Philippines Rafael Harpaz said that they are ready to accept Filipino workers through a government-to-government agreement.
“In November, finally we are going to start the process of having Filipinos coming to work in the tourism industry,” said Harpaz.
Administrator Bernard P. Olalia said the governments of Israel and the Philippines have signed an agreement on December 11, 2018 designating POEA as the sole entity primarily responsible for the recruitment and deployment of the Filipino hotel workers.
The hotel workers will receive monthly salary of up to P78,000.
“The workers will be working in an established hotel, hotels with good reputation, either as a room boy, laundry worker, or housekeepers in their establishment,” said Olalia.
POEA will release official announcement regarding the requirements through their website, but applicants who meet the following qualifications and other preconditions set by the Israeli government may now register online through eservices.poea.gov.ph: A Filipino citizen, has competently passed TESDA assessment and certification and has acquired National Certificate Level 2 (NCII) on housekeeping, at least 25 years of age, never previously worked in Israel, does not have parents, a spouse or children currently working or residing in Israel;
Applicants must also have NBI clearance, physically and mentally healthy – does not suffer from diseases of from chronic medical conditions including (but not limited to) tuberculosis, hepatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, and AIDS; and capable of physically demanding hotel housekeeping work; declare that he/she is diligent, service oriented, pays attention to details and has a polite manner, and have good English language skills.
Olalia emphasized that inclusion in the registry does not guarantee selection for work in Israel.
Israel will randomly select no more than 75 percent of the qualified workers in the final database of applicants. In addition, the maximum number of selected applicants shall in no case be more than 1,000 workers.
He added that no recruitment fees shall be collected from the applicants at any stage of the recruitment process but they will be responsible for paying for airfare as well as clearances and other processing fees.

Beware of illegal recruiters
Olalia said Filipino jobseekers should avoid offers of employment from illegal recruiters who may take advantage of the reported 1,000 hotel housekeeping jobs for Filipino workers in Israel. Again, hiring is only through POEA.
