The Iloilo City government thru its Public Employment Service Office (PESO) and Iloilo Paraw Regatta Foundation Inc. will hold the first ever job fair exclusive for seafaring manning agencies.
Around 20 international manning agencies are expected to join the job fair set on February 16 and 17 at the Atria Park District Iloilo in Mandurriao, Iloilo City,
“I am encouraging everyone especially the seafarers who have yet to find a job to come and apply. This is your opportunity to be employed,” said City PESO head Ma. Elena Benitez.
PESO also invited training centers which will extend help to applicants during the job fair.
“The training centers will give advice to our applicants on how to apply to these manning agencies,” said Benitez.

Benitez said the job fair is a big help, especially for those who really want to become seafarers.
“I am very optimistic that there will be (a bulk) of applicants who will join in this job fair that is why the city government is very happy to partner with the Paraw Regatta Foundation in this activity,” she said.
The job fair is in connection with the celebration of the 45th Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival, which is considered as the oldest sailing festival in Asia.
