CityMalls all over the country will soon offer their mall spaces for processing of passports.
DoubleDragon Properties Corp. announced on Tuesday that its subsidiary CityMall Commercial Centers, Inc. signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) for the passport processing inside the CityMalls.
The arrangement will be under the ‘Passport on Wheels’ program of the DFA.
“We are glad to be working with important government agencies, like the Department of Foreign Affairs among others, to make the lives of Filipinos better by helping them in cascading their services with efficiency and convenience,” said DoubleDragon Chairman Edgar “Injap” Sia II.
“These kinds of initiatives are aligned with the government’s thrust to make the Philippine economy more inclusive and help improve the lives of the people, especially in the far-away provincial areas,” Sia added.
Based on their website, there are already 36 CityMalls branches around the country, and around 20 more is under construction. In Iloilo it has 4 branches, namely, CityMall Tagbak, CityMall Passi City, CityMall Parola, and CityMall Ungka-Pavia.
This is a welcome development as it will surely decongest DFA offices as the ‘chain of CityMalls continue to strengthen its grip in each and every provincial community in the Philippines, Sia said.
“The CityMalls are expected to become the new town plazas as they become the new venue of relevant activities of the local community,” he concluded.
DoubleDragon targets to complete a leasable portfolio of 1.2 Million square meters by 2020 comprising of 700,000 square meters from 100 CityMalls, 300,000 square meters from its Metro Manila office projects DD Meridian Park and Jollibee Tower, 100,000 square meters from the pipeline 5,000 hotel rooms of Hotel101 and Jinjiang Inn Philippines, and another 100,000 square meters of industrial warehouse space from various CentralHub sites across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
