After so many months of being holed up in our home due to community quarantine measures brought about by the pandemic, a quick urban getaway was what our family needed, and it was graciously provided by Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo!
Park Inn Iloilo is a 10-story hotel strategically built as part of SM City Iloilo Complex, next to the Southpoint area. Its location is its biggest advantage, as it is situated along Iloilo City’s main thoroughfare, the Diversion Road, which makes it very accessible to all major establishments and local attractions. Also, being beside a mall means utmost convenience.
Upon checking in last weekend, we immediately noticed that the hotel is ensuring the safety of its guests and employees through strict enforcement of health protocols. Wearing of face mask, physical distancing, temperature checking, and gathering of information for contact tracing are mandatory upon entry.
Aside from friendly staff who readily greets you and offers you a welcome drink as you come in, their wide lobby dotted with colorful furniture and festive interiors will give you a vibrant ambiance. They call this the “Living Room” concept, which allows guests to socialize and provides an intimate space for individuals who wish to unwind through reading or surfing the net.
If you want to grab a bite or a drink while lounging in, there’s a 24-hour lobby bar that offers pastries, sandwiches, coffee and drinks; and Dash, a self-service counter quick grab and grub of packaged foods.
Our Room – Junior Suite
This third Park Inn hotel under SM Hotels and Conventions Corp (SMHCC) portfolio has 199 rooms (Standard, Superior, and Junior Suite types) complete with basic necessities, and more!
We were accommodated in one of the Junior Suite Room at the 7th floor and it’s very spacious! It has a separate living room with a long and comfortable sofa fronting a TV set. Opening the window curtains, we are treated to a nice natural light and a view of the pool area, the SM Mall and booming cityscape.
In one corner, there’s a working table with ample power sockets, USB charging ports, and an ergonomic chair perfect for my blogging routine. There’s a complimentary sanitation pack with face masks, hand sanitizer and antibacterial wet wipes. Of course, their wifi connection is fast and stable; I was able to attend a Zoom meeting for two hours and do my online jobs with no lags or connectivity hiccups.
There’s also a minibar at the other corner with Nespresso coffeemaker and coffee capsules, personal ref, electric kettle, and other coffee and tea consumables.
Private bedroom
The private bedroom has some touch of Ilonggo culture with vibrant blue wall accentuated with Paraw Regatta artworks above the bed headboard. The room has another widescreen TV facing the bed, wardrobe with in-room safe, bathrobes, slippers, iron and ironing board, an elegant red accent chair. The bedroom also has its separate aircon temperature control, which I liked.
The bathroom is partitioned to separate the toilet (with bidet spray) from the bath area, which has a rain shower head plus complimentary Dove hair and body wash, and other toiletries. There’s also a bathtub in another corner, where everyone in the family loved to have a bubble bath and a warm soak; and a lavatory with hairdryer and magnifying mirror.
What makes the suite more family and kid-friendly is that the floor tiles are not slippery, perfect for our 1-year-old who had just learned how to walk.
Our Food in Park Inn Iloilo
Ani, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant, is open to serve delicious dishes and cool drinks from the bar, but we opted for the convenience of room service for our dinner and complimentary breakfast. Just a dial away, the service of the dining staff is excellent: they were prompt and courteous, and of course, they adhere to health protocols by wearing face masks, face shields, and gloves when serving our meals.
Other amenities
On the second floor of Park Inn by Radisson Iloilo is the pool area with a 2-foot deep kiddie pool, 4-foot deep swimming pool, bar, lactating station, and a fitness gym. There’s also an access way leading to the second level of SM Southpoint.
As a health protocol, the hotel allows only 3 persons using the kiddie pool and 5 persons using the swimming pool for adults. So before using the pool, guests need to call the front desk for a schedule, to avoid overcrowding.
