The first-ever Northern Iloilo Tourism Summit, which aims to thresh out major challenges and plan possible actions to promote sustainable tourism in the Fifth District of Iloilo, is scheduled on March 16-17, 2020.
Congressman Raul ‘Boboy’ Tupas said that the preparations are now underway for the summit which will be held at Solina Beach Resort in Carles, Iloilo.
The Northern Iloilo Tourism Summit pushes for sustainable tourism, promote activities and programs on tourism awareness, foster tourism development and encourage private sector participation, improve and strengthen coordination between and among DOT, LGUs, Congressional Office, Stakeholders, and Private Sector.
The Northern Iloilo Technical Working Group (TWG), with Tupas and Department of Tourism (DOT) Regional Director Atty. Helen Catalbas as co-chairs, met with stakeholders last February 19 to discuss the Tourism Development and District Tourism Summit.
Tupas requested DOT to make a ‘master plan on tourism development’ for the Fifth District as the northern Iloilo is still the top tourist destination in the province.
The Fifth District has 11 municipalities, namely Barotac Viejo, Ajuy, Concepcion, Sara, San Dionisio, San Rafael, Lemery, Batad, Estancia, Balasan, and Carles. The district is home to amazing island resorts such as Isla de Gigantes and Sicogon. (Photos: GuidetothePhilippines.ph, No Boundaries Advertising and Events)
