Impelled by a desire to bring family planning and health services to the marginal sector, the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) Iloilo Chapter opens it lying-clinic in the crowded coastal area of the city here to serve at least 6 neighboring barangays.
Armand Parcon, newly elected president of FPOP Iloilo said the clinic is beside the FPOP office at the ground floor of Sacred Heart building at corner Jalandoni and Rizal streets and right at the middle of the adjoining barangays mostly with informal settlers and squatters.
Parcon said FPOP’s advocacy is to deliver basic health services and help the poor population with approachable but dependable clinic services to the poor people.
The clinic is expected to supplement health services of the city health office in congested barangays of Rizal Pala-pala Zone 1, Rizal Pala-pala Zone 2, Bonifacio Tanza, Rizal Estanzuela, Flores, and Kahirupan.
Daily clinic services with a minimal fee include a teacher’s package of random blood sugar (RBS), urinalysis and Pap smear for a total of P300; prenatal package of P580 that includes CBC, urinalysis, HBS Ag and RPR; ultrasound of P700; and child delivery of P2,000 for mothers with multi-deliveries and P3,000 for first time delivery.
They also offer free services which include demo-training and lectures on family planning and responsible parenthood, teen-age pregnancy and health and body wellness.
On Friday, a one-day medical mission at the clinic will be conducted with free consultation and medicines.
The lying-in clinic was inaugurated on Thursday, August 30, 2012. The clinic is open Monday to Saturday.
