Sta. Barbara, Iloilo has bested 978 other municipalities around the country in the Government Efficiency category of the 2015 Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI).

National Competitiveness Council through the Regional Competitiveness Committees has recognized the top cities and municipalities in the Philippines in an awarding ceremony of 3rd Regional Competitiveness Summit held at PICC Reception Hall, Manila on Thursday, July 16.
The CMCI is a program which encourages LGUs to gather and submit data which will be used to measure their performance on three pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, and Infrastructure.
Sta. Barbara got 22.3024553 points to top the Government Efficiency ranking, followed by Midsayap, North Cotabato at 20.0370767 points and Maramag, Bukidnon at 19.9082354 points.
Iloilo City also bagged the top place for highly urbanized cities in the same category.
NCC has been ranking cities and municipalities based on CMCI and giving awards since 2013. This year, a total 142 cities and 978 municipalities participated in the index or a total of 1,120 local governments out of 1,634 LGUs in the country.
