Iloilo City’s sole power distributor, MORE Power, marked its 5th anniversary with a meaningful celebration—the Harvest Festival. This event, held in collaboration with local farmers and the City Agriculture Office, underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and community development.

Since its inception, MORE Power has provided farmers with essential technological and logistical support. The Harvest Festival is a testament to this long-term commitment, ensuring that past initiatives continue to flourish. By maintaining trees and plants from previous programs, the company actively supports food security, sustainable agriculture, and local farmers. This initiative is made possible through partnerships with the City Agricultural Office, Allied Botanical Corporation, and Uswag Nursery.

“We recognize that this represents more than just corporate social responsibility; they symbolize the growth and journey of our company, intertwined with the well-being of our environment and the community. Just as the plants or the seeds we have donated flourished, we are dedicated to ensuring their success,” says Ma. Cristina D. Cabalhin, Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Affairs at MORE Power.

Demonstrating their hands-on approach, MORE Power employees participated in the harvest, purchasing the produce they gathered as a way to directly support local farmers.

“Kabay pa sa MORE dugang pa gid nga support sa farmers nga luwas sang seeds may ma dugang pa gid sila support sa farmers,” says Rizaldo Quino Portillo, President of the Brgy. Camalig Vegetable Association.

Through initiatives such as seed distribution, crop monitoring, and educational programs, MORE Power ensures that past green efforts continue to thrive. At the same time, they help farmers adopt improved agricultural techniques.

“Not only nga naga provide sa power kag services, may ara siya part nga ginatan-aw niya ang kapakanan sa atun food providers, food sources naton. Nakita naton nga isa sina sa marginalized sector naton ang atun mangunguma. Pero importante sila kay nagapakaon sila sa urban setting,” says Iñigo Garingalao from the City Agriculture Office.

“This year, MORE Power’s goal is sustainability. Gusto ta mabal-an kung may impact gid man ang seeds nga gindonate ni MORE Power. Ga-conduct kami technical assistance kag educational para makatulod sa farmers kung paano sila magtanum sang mga specific nga seeds. Gusto man namon mag-introduce sang new technology sa mga farmers. Quarterly na ini siya matabo,” says Janine Diones, Marketing Officer at MORE Power.

For the past five years and beyond, MORE Power remains dedicated to powering a greener, more sustainable future for Iloilo City—one harvest at a time.
