Every day, various teams from MORE Power are deployed across Iloilo City to respond to consumer concerns and carry out maintenance tasks. Working with live electrical wires at significant heights is a challenging and high-risk job, requiring skill, precision, and, most importantly, safety.
Despite these challenges, MORE Power employees have achieved an impressive milestone—2 million safe man-hours over the past five years. This achievement means that the company has operated without any of its employees suffering work-related injuries, a testament to its strong commitment to safety and training.
Ensuring workplace safety is no small feat, especially in an industry that deals with electrical hazards. The key to achieving this level of safety is continuous training, particularly in occupational first aid. Recognizing the importance of preparedness, MORE Power organized its first-ever First Aid Olympics in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross Iloilo Chapter.
“We have conducted first aid activities with other companies, but this event is truly remarkable because it establishes a culture of preparedness within MORE Power. Not only does it equip employees with first aid skills for workplace safety, but it also empowers them to assist in their communities and homes,” said Maribel Rojas Salazar, Emergency Medical Technician of the Philippine Red Cross.
MORE Power regularly conducts Occupational First Aid Training (OFAT), ensuring employees are well-equipped with essential life-saving skills. These trainings reinforce safety knowledge and readiness, allowing employees to respond effectively during emergencies, both on and off the job.
The First Aid Olympics put these skills to the test, with participants demonstrating their ability to handle different emergency scenarios. A panel of judges objectively evaluated their responses, ensuring a fair assessment of their first aid capabilities.
“Safety is a priority, especially in a high-risk industry like ours. But beyond work, these skills are valuable in everyday life—you never know when an emergency might happen at a party, on vacation, or even at home. At MORE Power, we are always ready to serve. More than anything, this event is also a celebration of our milestone—2 million safe man-hours,” said Daphnie Karina De Pedro, AVP for Human Capital Management.
The First Aid Olympics was one of the highlights of MORE Power’s anniversary celebration, reinforcing its unwavering commitment to employee welfare and safety. As the company continues to prioritize training and preparedness, it sets the standard for workplace safety in the energy sector.
