Ilonggos 85 years old and older in Iloilo Province will receive monetary reward and recognition from the provincial government.
During the 8th Regular Session, the 14th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) unanimously approved in third and final reading Provincial Ordinance No. 2020-216.
Entitled “AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PROVINCIAL ORDINANCE NO. 2016-135 TO READ AS AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE MONETARY AWARD AND RECOGNITION TO QUALIFIED OCTOGENARIAN, NONAGENARIAN AND CENTENARIAN IN THE PROVINCE OF ILOILO AND PROVIDING FUNDS THEREFOR,” the ordinance was authored and sponsored by 5th District Board Member Carol-V Espinosa-Diaz. It was co-sponsored by Vice Governor Christine “Tingting” Garin, 3rd District Board Member Jason Gonzales, 3rd District Board Member Matt Palabrica and Ex-Officio Board Member Dorothy Paes of the Liga ng mga Barangay.
Who are qualified to receive the monetary reward?
The Ordinance will give the following benefits and privileges to all Filipino residents of the Province of Iloilo with qualifying ages:
A. Octogenarian (85 years old)
1. Cash incentive of Five Thousand Pesos (P5,000.00) from the Province of Iloilo; and,
2. Congratulatory letter and Certification from the Governor.
B. Nonagenarian (95 years old)
1. Cash incentive of Five Thousand Pesos (P5,000.00) from the Province of Iloilo; and,
2. Congratulatory letter and Certification from the Governor.
C. Centenarian (100 years old or more)
1. Cash incentive of Twenty Thousand Pesos (P20,000.00) from the Province of Iloilo;
2. Congratulatory letter and Certification from the Governor;
3. A plaque of Recognition as the “Centenarian Citizen Awardee”; and,
4. Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution recognizing the exemplary Centenarians.
The ordinance mandates the appropriation of regular or supplemental annual budget of Ten Million Pesos (P10,000,000.00). (via SIA News/Bert Ladera)
