Medical company Medicus is expanding its business operation here in Iloilo City by way of another big-time investment – establishing a cancer institute.
This, after Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog met with officials of Medicus Iloilo City, Inc. headed by their president and chief executive officer, Dr. Vicente Villareal, at the executive office March 25.
“They are putting up a cancer clinic at their site in Diversion Road that will have what they call ‘sniper treatment’ in contrast to cobalt,” Mayor Jed said.
The ‘sniper’ will unleash killer cells to kill the tumor cells but not surrounding healthy cells.
“This is a welcome development especially for cancer patients here because they need not go to other places to undergo costly procedures,” he added.
Groundbreaking of Medicus Cancer Institute is set on April 12 and the facility is expected to be finished before the year ends or early part of 2014.
