Guimaras Provincial Government and Private Sector team up for Manggahan 2017
Every year, the activities for Guimaras’ Manggahan Festival surpass those of the preceding years. Their success is due to the collaboration of the Guimaras provincial, municipal, national government agencies and the private sector.
These partners include John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLMFU), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Education (DepEd), Guimaras State College, Lopez Foundation, Travel and Marketing Experts Corp. (TMX), Pinta Isla, and Guimaras Motocross Club, among others.
From only a few days of festivities since the festival started more than 23 years ago, the Manggahan Festival now lasts for a month. Some of these additional activities include the Mango Man Triathlon, Bike Fest, Agri-Trade and Tourism Fair, Dog Festival, Manggahan Cultural Showcase, exhibition of organic agricultural products. That’s a lot of activities to help you make this summer your most fun ever.
Celebrities and Display of Culture
In addition to the 2017 Manggahan Festival, the province of Guimaras is celebrating its Silver Anniversary of Provincehood this year. The affair with be star-studded as the country’s popular entertainment personalities – Matt Evans, Brod Pete, Hashtags, Daniella and Allyca, 6cyclemind, Banda ni Kleggy, Rouge band, Gracenote, Calla Lily, guests from Kapamilya Caravan – will entertain you.
On May 21, expect a grander display of culture in the Western Visayas Invitational Cultural Presentation wherein cultural groups from Region 6 will perform. With the help of the DOT VI, one will be able to witness the performances of Ati-Atihan Festival of Aklan, Dinagyang Festival of Iloilo, MassKara Festival of Bacolod, Binukot of Capiz, and Guimaras’ very own Hubon Binagtong sang Manggahan.
