Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog joins other officials in the groundbreaking and corner-stone laying ceremony for the new CEA-ICT building of Western Visayas College of Science and Technology in La Paz.
Worth P110-million, the project will be equipped with a power house, mechanical laboratories and instructional facilities where information and communication technology laboratories of the College will be located use of engineering and information technology students.
“This ICT facility is very important in the improvement of our quality public education for all and in providing opportunities for the Ilonggo youth. We live in a highly competitive world, and the only way to make it and overcome the challenges is to make sure that the youth is well-prepared for a brighter future,” Mayor Jed said in his speech.
He also said the city government is fully committed to use and promote information technology, as well as to help the Ilonggos keep abreast with technological advancements to provide wider socio-economic opportunities.
“We aim to have an educated and computer literate citizenry, giving everyone equal access to gaining skills and knowledge in information technology,” the mayor added.
