Public utility jeepneys will ply the Lanit-Jaro Plaza route soon as Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has opened franchises to service relocation site residents.
Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said that LTFRB had opened 20 franchises for PUJ units to service the route from Barangay Lanit to Jaro Plaza. It will start from the Megaworld property in Barangay Lanit up to Jaro Plaza passing the Don Delfin Avenue and Gonzalez Avenue.
This new jeepney route will be beneficial to the commuting Iloilo River Plains Subdivision and Barangay Lanit residents and to farmers there who have products to transport to city markets, Mabilog added.
“Ina daku nga alibyo sa taga-Lanit, sa taga-Iloilo River Plains Subdivision kag diri sa Uswag Subdivision. Maagyan na sila sang jeepney kag ila bayran regular fare lang.”
The Iloilo River Plains Subdivision is a city government relocation site for 1,000 informal settlers displaced by the rehabilitation of the Iloilo River and widening of the Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue. [via Source]
