Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica) will visit 3 district hospitals in Iloilo for their proposal to improve and upgrade the facilities under their ABC Hospital Enhancement Program.
Koica survey team will conduct site visits on November 10-13, 2012 in district hospitals of Aleosan, Balasan and Calinog, and meet with construction companies or contractors and the concerned local government unit (LGU) officials.
Also part of their itinerary is the conduct of meeting with stakeholders, specifically university professors and local health officials, for capacity development of human resources.
The project was an offshoot of the meeting of Governor Arthur Defensor with Korean Ambassador Lee Hye Min last year where he asked the ambassador’s help in the improvement of hospitals in the province.
Defensor said the total cost of the project is not yet determined but it will entail the construction of new buildings and the provision of medical facilities and equipment.
He said it will be a grant from the Korean government just like the P200-million Koica Rice Processing Complex in Barangay Amamaros, Pototan, which was inaugurated in March this year.
Defensor said the Koica project is on top of the ongoing hospital upgrading program of his administration in which the Provincial Government is investing a total of P500 million for the improvement of the 11 Iloilo district hospitals and the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan.
