The Iloilo City Tourism and Development Office (CTDO) will offer free tour around the metropolis to familiarize frontliners including receptionists, vendors, drivers, and government or non-government employees on December 17.
City Tourism Officer Junel Ann Divinagracia said there are 150 slots available for the half-day tour and those interested may contact CTDO at 3207581.
“We aim to educate our frontliners about the various tourist destinations, what are the stories behind these, as well as the recent developments in the city,” Divinagracia said.
“A lot of tourists usually ask about destinations here, so if our frontliners are equipped with knowledge about these, it will be easy for them to answer the query,” she noted.
CTDO has prepared five coasters with accredited tour guides.
“Mayor Jose Espinosa III and Department of Tourism regional director Atty. Helen Catalbas are very supportive of our program. In fact, Mayor Joe believes that tourism is an economic driver of the city,” Divinagracia said.
She added they are planning to have another batch if the first turns out full.
“Initially, through the ‘JoyRide Ta’ Program, we want to have a regular route which covers tourist destinations around the city. We are still finalizing this with Mayor Joe including the vehicle to be used,” Divinagracia said. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta/Iloilo City PIO)
