Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) is doing its share in taking care of frontliners in the fight against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and its president Dr. Raul Muyong is taking the lead!
In a photo shared by Professor John Eric Juaneza in Facebook, Muyong is seen helping other school officials and educators in the production of improvised aerosol boxes which will be donated for medical workers.
Aerosol boxes are transparent cubes made of acrylic or polycarbonate that covers a patient’s head during endotracheal intubation. These shield doctors and nurses from the patient’s respiratory droplets.
The ISAT-U team is also making face shields using cutting edge technology such as laser cutter and 3D printer in their fabrication laboratory.
The Extension Services Division (ESD) of the ISAT-U and its community partners who were also recipients of the livelihood skills training of the University, are also producing 7,000 face masks for frontliners.
Muyong personally turned over the first batch of face masks to Iloilo City Government and to Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal of National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Region 6.
