Some 15,000 to 20,000 individuals are expected to take part in an early morning dance exercise to be lead by 10 Miss Dinagyang 2014 candidates at the Iloilo Esplanade on Friday, November 15.
“We are looking forward to this momentous event that will put Iloilo City again in the map by gathering thousands of people in an early fitness exercise to be led by Miss Dinagyang beauties,” said Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog.
The “Zumba sa Suba” is an innovation of the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2014 pageant that aims to promote health and wellness as well as the beauty of Iloilo River at sunrise.
The event, which will start 5:00 a.m., will also serve as a unique launching of the pageant, according to its coordinator, Alex Soncio. Participants will assemble in different places namely, Molo Plaza, San Agustin Gym in Jalandoni Street, and in front of SM City.
They will then walk going to Benigno Aquino Avenue, and will converge at the 1.2 km. Iloilo Esplanade in Treñas Boulevard, Mandurriao district.
They will perform the zumba in 20 different stages with 20 sound systems along the stretch of road.
“We are expecting a big crowd during the event and we are coordinating with the Transportation Management and Traffic Regulation Office to ease up the traffic in the area,” said Benito Jimena, City Tourism Officer.
On the afternoon of the same day, the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang presentation will be held at SM City car park showcasing a national dance group and with live coverage of a television network.
Coronation of the winner is on January 2014.
