Iloilo wins big by bagging four awards in the biggest gathering of businesspeople in the country, the 46th Philippine Business Conference & Expo (PBC&E) organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) on October 8, 2020.
PBC&E is the most anticipated business conference which features renowned speakers and experts as they share insights and strategies on how to effectively navigate the present business landscape for a more sustainable and secure future.
In an event done online via Zoom videoconference, three Iloilo local government units bagged major awards: the municipalities of Mina and Concepcion, and Iloilo City.
Mina, under Mayor Rey P. Grabato, was named as the Most Business-Friendly LGU in the Municipality Level (3rd-5th Classes) for the entire Philippines. Concepcion, under Mayor Raul N. Banias, was also given a Special Citation in the same category.
Iloilo City, headed by Mayor Jerry P. Trenas, was the only LGU in the Visayas to be awarded the Special Citation, Most Business-Friendly Highly-Urbanized City outside of Metro Manila.
PCCI-Iloilo Chapter, headed by its Chairman Dr. Sandra S. Gomez and President Atty. Jobert Penaflorida, was likewise given special recognition for its regional response to the COVID pandemic. Various outreach activities were undertaken by the Iloilo Chapter, with its Treasurer, Ms. Maritess Lim, as Lead Person.
The PCCI recognizes local government units (LGUs) that have shown outstanding efforts in instituting good governance reforms to promote trade and investments, transparency, accountability, and efficiency in delivering business services.
