Iloilo City won three consecutive years as Best Performing City in Western Visayas, thus it became the first to be elevated in the Hall of Fame of the Excellence in Local Governance (EXCELL) Awards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-6).
The city was declared champion in Administrative, Social and Environmental Governance and 1st runner-up in Economic and Valuing Fundamentals of Good Governance.
“We are doing our best to provide the best service to our people. These awards are manifestation of excellent leadership we have in the City Government,” stressed Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog.
EXCELL recognizes the best managed local governments in the region that demonstrate best practices, achievements and innovations in governance, administration, social services, economic development, environmental management and local legislation.
The program also aims to advocate for transparency and accountability in governance, positively reinforce good performers, popularize replicable best practices and identify possible interventions to improve the local government unit’s performance.
