Iloilo City has added another feather to its cap as it was lauded during the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6’s Annual Regional Awarding of Partners and Stakeholders held on November 7, 2024, at Punta Villa Resort. Recognized for its outstanding contributions to public health, the city received multiple accolades, cementing its position as a leader in healthcare excellence in Western Visayas.
Among the notable honors were awards for the City Health Office (CHO) and Barangay Lanit, Jaro, in areas including safe blood donation advocacy, highest fully immunized child (FIC) coverage, and tuberculosis (TB) treatment success. The city was also commended for maintaining low stunting rates and for having a fully functional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit.
In his message, Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed pride and gratitude for the dedication and hard work of the CHO team and its partners.
“These milestones, driven by the commitment and hard work of our dedicated public servants, show that we are unified in our goal to promote excellence, growth, and the welfare of our people. Padayon lang kita sa pag-USWAG kag pagbinuligay.”
Recognizing Outstanding Health Initiatives
The DOH-6 awarding ceremony celebrated the efforts of local government units (LGUs), barangays, hospitals, and partner organizations that have excelled in implementing health programs. Regional Director Dr. Adriano P. Suba-an and Assistant Regional Director Dr. Ma. Sophia S. Pulmones highlighted the pivotal role of collaboration in achieving health benchmarks.
Key partners, such as the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) Iloilo Chapter, AHF Philippines, and other regional agencies, were also recognized for their technical expertise and support in enhancing community health outcomes.
