Iloilo City Government will open a localized BalinkBayan, an online portal that will serve Ilonggo overseas Filipino workers.
The project named Balinkbayan: “Overseas Filipinos’ One –Stop Online Portal for Diaspora Engagement” will be made available by the city government in partnership with the Commission of Filipino Overseas (CFO).
The e-governance project of the CFO under its migration and development (M&D) initiative will “provide mechanisms to effectively mainstream migration and development at the local level and will feature initiatives specific to Iloilo City.”
The CFO will provide the city government with website hosting facilities for the localized BalinkBayan page for one year.
The city government will provide, manage and maintain the database and main information system of the webpage and update its contents.
“This website will enable this city to keep track of our local overseas workers and more efficiently provide them assistance,” said councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo, chair of the committee on rules of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, in pushing a resolution giving authority to Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to sign an agreement with the CFO during Tuesday’s regular session.
