Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog has been informed of Iloilo City’s hosting of the Infrastructure Development and Financing and Strengthening Capital Market meeting, one of the side meetings of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit this year.
The meeting to be spearheaded by the Department of Finance expects to gather some 100 delegates in Iloilo City on July 23-24, said Junel Ann Divinagracia, executive director of the APEC Iloilo Organizing Committee (IOC).
Divinagracia said that the hosting was confirmed by Ambassador Marciano A. Paynor Jr, APEC 2015 national organizing council director general, when he met Mayor Mabilog in Boracay Island last week.
Already, Iloilo has been confirmed to host three meetings namely Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Ministerial Meeting, Food Security Week and High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and the Blue Economy and Related Meetings and Senior Disaster Management Officials Forum in September and October.
Divinagracia said the meetings will provide exposure of the city as destination for tourism, investments and opportunities. Delegates would see the city’s moving economy and “they might be lured to also ride on with the success of the city,” she said. (PNA)
