Department of Health (DOH) handed out Plaque of Recognition to Iloilo City for being a ‘breastfeeding-friendly’ metropolis in a summit held in Manila on October 18.
The award was given by Secretary Enrique Ona during the Infant and Young Child Feeding-Breastfeeding Summit at the City State Tower Hotel.
Ona commended Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog and the City Government for ensuring the health of children as the breastfeeding champion in Western Visayas.
The DOH Secretary also recognized Mayor Jed’s invaluable support and contribution to the implementation of child feeding initiatives at the community level.
Iloilo City, deeply committed to attaining the Millennium Development Goals-F 2030 goal, bested other regional nominees in meeting the criteria set by the Health Department.
Mayor Jed, meanwhile, praised City health officer Dr. Urminico Baronda Jr. and city health personnel for conscientiously working hard to give Iloilo City another national distinction.
