Iloilo City remains a peaceful metropolis as crime rate dropped 66.16 percent.
This was the assessment of Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) acting director Senior Supt. Henry Biñas.
ICPO recorded a significant decrease to only 45 crime incidents on October 16 to 22, 2017 from 133 crime incidents posted October 17 to 23, 2016.
“As to the crime situation, Iloilo is generally still a very peaceful city,” stressed Biñas. “The decrease of theft and physical injury under index crime has contributed to decrease of total incidents,” he noted.
There were only five theft cases last week, a drop of 70.58 percent from 17 cases during the same period last year.
There were only nine physical injuries during the third week of October this year, down by 57.14 percent from 21 cases during the same period last year.
“Some 120 minors were rescued last week and personally, I do believe that strict enforcement of 10pm-4am curfew ordinance somehow greatly contributed to reduction of criminality in city,” Biñas said.
Meanwhile, police operatives arrested Romy Tambas, Top 1 most wanted person by Jaro Police Station and Noli Jabatan, Top 2 most wanted person by Mandurriao Police Station. [via Iloilo City PIO]
