Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog led the group, composed of more than 70 department and assistant department heads, chiefs of offices and heads of national government agencies being supported by the City Government, following their regular executive meeting.
“This is leadership by example. We want to ensure that we are in a drug-free workplace, and the initiative must come from us. Surprise drug test for rank and file employees will follow,” he said.
“The move was actually unexpected as it was only brought up during the meeting, but since everybody agreed to undergo the drug test, so we trooped to the clinic,” Mabilog added.

The mayor said those who were absent during the meeting will also have to subject themselves to drug testing.
City officials went to the testing center in two batches, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
They personally shouldered the cost of the testing kit.
Results are expected to be released on Friday to Iloilo City Police Office OIC-Director Sr. Supt. Remus Zacharias Canieso per directive of Mabilog. [via Iloilo City Gov’t Facebook]
