Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) named Iloilo City as the most business-friendly highly urbanized city in the country.
No less than President Rodrigo Duterte gave Mayor Jerry Treñas the plaque of Most Business-Friendly Highly Urbanized City outside Metro Manila during the PCCI’s 45th Business Conference and Expo at Fiesta Pavillion of Manila Hotel on October 17.
“It has always been my dream to bring Iloilo City to greater heights of excellence. This is all for you, my beloved Ilonggos,” said Treñas in a Facebook post.
“I am looking forward to more business engagements for the progress of our beloved city. Let us all continue to prosper and attract more investors in Iloilo City,” he added.
Iloilo City got the award for its “commendable efforts in adopting and instituting innovative and best practices in good govenance in partnership with the private sector, significantly benefiting its business community and citizenry.”
The search sets four criteria under essential indicators – fast-tracking sustainable local economic development; improvement of ease of doing business; investment promotion initiatives; and initiatives to enhance industry/sectoral competitiveness.
The PCCI, through the annual search, seeks to highlight the outstanding efforts and commendable practices by LGUs in implementing good governance reforms to promote trade and investments, employment, transparency, accountability, and efficiency in delivering business services to fuel inclusive growth in their localities.
