Demonstrating its strong commitment to environmental sustainability, MORE Power partnered with the Iloilo City Government for a mangrove planting initiative at the newly opened Sunset Boulevard on March 14, 2025.

A total of 120 volunteers, including MORE Power employees and the company’s Guardians of the Environment, came together to plant 600 mangrove saplings. This initiative not only strengthens coastal protection but also enhances biodiversity and promotes a greener Iloilo City.

Ms. Susan Javellana, Senior Environmental Management Specialist at the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (City ENRO), expressed her gratitude to MORE Power for being the first to introduce mangrove planting at Sunset Boulevard since its opening. She underscored the importance of preserving the area’s natural beauty and ensuring proper waste management.

“By planting mangroves, we provide protection to this coastal area, mitigate the effects of extreme heat, and promote ecological balance. Right now, our viewing deck looks bare, but with efforts like this, the city is working towards developing more green spaces,” Javellana said.

Among the 22 mangrove species found in the Philippines, volunteers planted the Pagatpat variety along the Iloilo River, known for its resilience and ecological benefits.

MORE Power’s Vice President for Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Ms. Ma. Cristina D. Cabalhin, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to sustainability. “Mangroves play a vital role in coastal protection, biodiversity conservation, and carbon sequestration. This initiative is part of our 5th-anniversary celebration, during which we aim to establish five planting decks with a total of 5,000 saplings. Today, we successfully completed our first deck with 600 saplings, and we remain committed to reaching our goal,” she said.

This collaborative effort between MORE Power and the Iloilo City Government marks a significant step toward a more sustainable and environmentally friendly Iloilo City. With several more green initiatives lined up for the year, MORE Power continues to champion environmental stewardship, ensuring a brighter and greener future for the city and its residents.
