The Iloilo City Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO) posted a total collection of P79.1-million which is higher by P5.8-million than its P73.3-million target income, from January to November.
Mayor Jerry Treñas commended City Government employees for the collective efforts towards effective and efficient management despite the challenges caused by ongoing construction works on the development of all district markets.
LEEO head Maricel Mabaquiao attributed the accomplishments to the hard work of market in-charge and collectors in ensuring the attainment of monthly targets for rentals, entrance of goods, and other fees.
They manage the major public markets including Central and Terminal or Super in City Proper, Jaro Big and Small, Arevalo, La Paz, and Mandurriao, and Slaughterhouse in Brgy. Tacas, Jaro.
The rehabilitation is being implemented to upgrade the infrastructure and facilities to better serve the needs of the buying public and vendors.
The modern markets are expected to create better services and convenience for consumers, including parking space, clean facilities, help micro and small businesses, and promote economic and tourism potentials.
Temporary stalls have also ensured the continuity of economic activities. (Iloilo City PIO)
