Iloilo City has been declared insurgency-free by the Philippine National Police, Philippine Army, and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
This, after the Joint Peace and Security Coordination Center (JPSCC) Resolution was approved and adopted during the joint meeting of the City Peace and Order Council and Iloilo City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, June 16 at City Hall Penthouse.
“I am pleased of this declaration by various law enforcement agencies, as this is a manifestation of all our hard work in creating a safe and livable city. We will continue with our initiatives to maintain our insurgency-free and generally peaceful status,” Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said.
During the JPSCC meeting in June this year attended by representatives of Iloilo City Police Office, 301st Infantry Brigade, and PCG, it was presented that there are no more recorded New People’s Army-initiated violent incidents, no more non-violent urban activities monitored as perpetrated by the Community Party of the Philippines (CPP)-NPA, and no more existing CPP-NPA formation within the Iloilo City since 2018.
Based on the report of JPSCC members, the city remains free from the threat of CPP-NPA.
This is due to the continued joint and rigorous efforts of the police, military and civilian residents that have deterred any terrorism, insurgency, and highly organized crimes in Iloilo City. (Iloilo City PIO)
