The Iloilo City government, the host local government unit (LGU) prepared a simple yet very entertaining welcome dinner for more than 100 delegates from 21 member-economies of Asia Pacific Economic and Cooperation (APEC) who are here for the two-day meeting July 23-24.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said the event showcases the best of Iloilo City and promotes it to the rest of the world in an effort to attract more visitors and investors to the metropolis.
The cultural presentation with the theme “Tracing Roots, Treading Routes” features panorama of Ilonggo arts and culture from indigenous routes up to the present.

It’s all systems go for APEC member-economies that will tackle infrastructure concerns of the region through long-term investment and capital market development.
Preparations for the two-day workshop run smoothly, said Junel Ann Divinagracia, executive director of the Iloilo Organizing Committee (IOC).
To ensure the safety of delegates, the Philippine National Police (PNP) alone deployed 2,000 personnel in their respective areas of designation, said Inspector Shella Mae A. Sangrines, spokesperson of the security task group.
More than a thousand security personnel were also deployed by other law enforcement agencies to augment the police strength.
