Fifty beneficiaries received their “Contracts to Sell” establishing their security of land tenure in Brgy. East Timawa, Molo district.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog together with councilor Joshua Alim, committee chairman on urban poor, and Iloilo City Urban Poor Affairs Office (ICUPAO) Executive Director Wilfredo Jurilla, distributed the certificate during a ceremony at City Hall Sept. 9.
“We are fast tracking the processing of these contracts so that we can grant lots to well-deserved beneficiaries and thus lessen the number of informal settlers in the city,” Mayor Jed said.
With a contract, the beneficiaries promise to pay back the city government with P150 to P200 monthly payment for their lands in 10 years. A land title will be issued to them after full payment.
Financial assistance
The city government also extended financial assistance to four individuals whose homes were either totally or partially destroyed by hazards.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog personally handed the cash aid to Merly Limbaga and Fely Piad, both fire victims from Lanit, Jaro. Limbaga’s house was totally razed by fire, while Piad’s was partially gutted.
The mayor also gave financial assistance to Mary Lazarte whose house in Brgy. Cubay, Jaro was toppled by an uprooted banyan tree; and Henry Tambasen whose house was partially destroyed by an uprooted coconut tree in Brgy. Lanit.
