Iloilo City Government has partnered with Philippine Dental Association (PDA) in opening a community dental clinic that will give free services to the Ilonggos.
Mayor Jerry Treñas led the opening ceremony at Iloilo City General Services Office (GSO) Building at M.H. Del Pilar St., Molo. The event was graced by PDA National President Dr. Cheryl del Rosario and Iloilo Chapter President Dr. Amy Gallo.
PDA is an organization that offers and encourages the development and further education of dental professionals as well as provides legal assistance to their members.
Treñas said that the city offered the space which will serve as headquarters of PDA Iloilo Chapter.
“This dental home which has a comprehensive oral health program will benefit public school children, senior citizens, PWDs, and target communities. Serbisyo Ilonggo indigency clinic will also be revived and will operate monthly,” Treñas said.
“This will be of great help to advance the dental healthcare system in Iloilo. I am excited to see more beautiful and healthy smiles of the Ilonggos,” he added.
Del Rosario was very thankful to Treñas for giving them the office space and the “progressive partnership” for their programs.
“Having a headquarter is a dream of any dental chapter. We have 122 chapters and affiliates all around the Philippines but this is just 10th chapter who has their own building,” said Del Rosario.
“Asahan niyo po ang aming lubos na suporta sa PDA Iloilo Chapter, para makapagbigay ng libreng serbisyo para sa mga Ilonggo,” she added.
Organized in 1927, PDA Iloilo Chapter is one of the oldest chapters in the country.
