Iloilo City recorded seventy-two (72) cases of dengue in the last two weeks of September, amounting to 2,111 cases from January to September this year, a new high in total number of cases recorded by the city health office.
The records included death of 14 persons in total, the last was five-year-old Richard Taclino of Dungon A, Jaro, Iloilo City.
City health officer Dr. Mae Delmo reiterated her call on the public to maintain cleanliness.
At the same time, Delmo also warned the public on the recent emergence of an alarming disease called “Japanese Encephalitis” which is also caused by mosquito bites.
Delmo said this disease shows similar symptoms with dengue but its fatal effect was on the human brain.
