Poor but deserving college students in Iloilo City can now avail of free schooling through Iloilo City Community College scholarship program.
City Council enacted Regulation Ordinance No. 2013-319, “An ordinance establishing the Iloilo City Community College (ICCC) Scholarship Program and appropriating funds therefore”.
Said Ordinance, which shall be known as the “Iloilo City Community College (ICCC) Scholarship Assistance Program”, aims to provide financial assistance to the students of ICCC to defray the cost of tuition fee and other school miscellaneous expenses.
ICCC Scholarship program eligibility
1) The Valedictorian and Salutatoriam of the graduating class of any public high schools of the city;
2) Students enrolled at the college with a weighted average of at least 1.5, with a grade no lower than 2 in any subject/class from the previous school year without dropping, failing, or incomplete grade in any subject and should have at least completed a least 36 units from the previous school year;
3) Transferees with a weighted average of at least 1.5, with a grade no lower than 2 in any subject/class from his previous school and should have at least completed at least 36 units from the previous school year; provided, they meet the enrollment requirement of the ICCC; and
4) Students who have not participated in any offense involving moral turpitude that will destroy his and the school’s good character and reputation.
The Financial Assistance to be granted to eligible students will be exemption from paying annual tuition and miscellaneous fees.
This ordinance was sponsored by Councilor Jason R. Gonzales, Chairperson, Committee on Education, Science and Technology, and was duly seconded by Councilors Liezl Joy Zulueta-Salazar, R Leone N. Gerochi, Lyndon V. Acap, Carlos P. Guarin and Rodel F. Agado.
