The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Iloilo City is preparing to release 109,600 identification cards (voter’s IDs) of registered voters here.
City assistant elections officer Jonathan Sayno said that the voter’s IDs covered the 2003 to July 2011 registration period. Some 30 percent of the IDs of the city’s registered voters have already been released.
“We are still sorting out the IDs,” he added.
Sayno added that the IDs have to be claimed personally by the owner otherwise a notarized authorization letter is required.
He also emphasized that a voter’s ID will not be made a prerequisite to be able to cast votes this coming elections as he added that the board of election inspectors are armed with a master list of voters of their respective precincts. (Source:PNA)
